Our store was put together during August/September 2002.
It opened for business on the 21st of September.
Initially trading as Pet and Aquarium Mitchell, the business was renamed a year later to Pet and Aquarium Winkel (Dutch for 'shop' or 'warehouse').
This enabled us to use the abbreviation “paw” for our e-mail address!
The plan was to create an all-round pet store in spacious and relaxed premises, where our customers can browse in a somewhat traditional environment, with a comprehensive range of products and very competitive pricing.
We aim to present a range of requisites and luxuries for companion animals, which are practical and offer value for money, as well as have backing of warranty and service.
The store comprises :
- a Grooming Room for small to medium sized dogs,
- an Aviary Room for aviary and cage birds
- a Tropical Fish Room with some 100 display fish tanks.
These rooms allow us to display and offer a wide variety of birds and fish to our customers.
The centre of the store has roomy and hygienic display hutches for Puppies, Kittens, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs.
The rear is reserved for bulky items such as; dog foods, produce, large bird cages etc.
Parking is conveniently available at the front of the store on Hoskins St., or at the rear in Grimwade St.
Business hours - 7 Days a week!
Monday to Friday - 9am to 5.30pm
Saturday – 8.30am to 5pm
Sunday – 10am to 4pm
